Curriculum of SharePoint 2016 Administrator Development Training
Module 1. Introduction in SharePoint Administrator & Feature
Our new SharePoint 2016 administration course (SSC2016) is similar to our SharePoint 2013 administration course (SSC2013) in the sense that you create a local SharePoint farm from the ground up and configure it to provision service applications, web applications and site collection. Given that, it is fair to say that there will be overlap between these two courses because many of the techniques and PowerShell scripts remain the same between versions.
However, the course content emphasizes the differences between SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2016 such as the new MinRole server installation and all the new hybrid integration features between SharePoint 2016 and Office 365.
The upgrade and migration content will also be brand new Our SharePoint 2013 admin class discusses migrating from SharePoint 2010, while the new version obviously discusses migrating from SharePoint 2013 with an emphasis on the changing architecture like the addition of Microsoft Identity Manager and Office Online Server.

Module 2. Overview of Service Applications in SharePoint 2016 & Configure
SharePoint 2016 supports a flexible Service Application Architecture for intra-farm and inter-farm services. This module details what Service Applications are available in SharePoint 2016 and how to deploy and configure them in Central Administration and with PowerShell. This module introduces the Service Application architecture and teaches students how to deploy service applications that can be consumed by other farms. This module also details specific services like the Managed Metadata Service, Secure Store Service and the Business Connectivity Service to demonstrate how service applications interoperate.

Module 3. Configuring the user Profile Service and Identity Manager 2016
This module discusses how to take advantage of the User Profile Service and the Social Networking features in SharePoint Server 2016. You will learn how to create and configure a User Profile Service Application. This module also discusses the options for User Profile Synchronization using Active Directory connect or a third party provider such as Microsoft Identity Manager 2016.

Module 4. Working with Data Loss Prevention & eDiscovery
SharePoint 2013 introduced the eDiscovery Center and SharePoint 2016 build on this by adding features for Data Loss Prevention (DLP). This module introduces the requirements and features of eDiscovery and DLP. The students will use out of the box templates and create new policies that take the construct of conditions, actions and exceptions to understand how DLP works in SharePoint 2016.

Module 5. Building Hybrid solutions & Configure
SharePoint 2016 introduces a new option for connecting an on-premises farm to Office 365 through hybrid service connections. This module will discuss the Office 365 services available for hybrid connections like User Profiles, Search, Sites, and OneDrive for Business. This module begins by establishing a connection with an Office 365 Tenant and then installs the directory synchronization tools. Once the directory synchronization is complete the students will create service connections for Search and OneDrive for Business.

This module explores common popular tools and techniques used to monitor SharePoint 2016 farms and to optimize their performance. The module also discusses using MinRole monitoring, the Health Analyzer and configuring Usage Reporting.

Module 8.Topology Planning and Installation
This module introduces the architecture of SharePoint 2016 while highlighting the aspects of product which have been enhanced in this new release. This topic discusses the various topology options to be considered when creating a SharePoint farm and how to design a fault tolerant farm. This module steps through the details required to prepare for and install SharePoint Server 2016 in an on-premises environment. There will be an initial discussion of the hardware requirements and software requirements for installing SharePoint 2016. Students will create dedicated service accounts in Active Directory and learn how to run the SharePoint 2016 Prerequisite Installer both connected and disconnected from the Internet.

Module 9. SharePoint 2016 Farm Configuration
This lecture discusses the configuration of the farm and the use of the new MinRole picker. The lecture demonstrates how to configure a farm with PowerShell and Central Administration. Students will create SharePoint Managed Accounts and learn how to apply the different managed accounts during configuration. This module concludes by showing you how to create a SharePoint 2016 farm and its configuration database by choosing the appropriate role for the server.

Module 10. Configuring and Securing Web Applications
This module discusses the various concepts required to understand the options that are available to administrators when creating Web Applications. Students will learn the SharePoint 2016 options for configuring user authentication and how to create web applications that use SSL. This module discusses advanced features of SharePoint Web Application and Site Collection Management for an on-premises farm. You will learn how to create and manage the content databases associated with a Web application as well as how to configure list throttling and site quotas. This lecture also discusses the disciplines and governance strategies which an organization can employ when creating and managing 1000s of sites and site collections in an enterprise environment.
